PLEASE NOTE: I’d like to point out, this is not “Mountain Biking”. But in order to participate, you will need a mountain bike or a hybrid in good repair. Touring bikes are discouraged due to their narrow tire size. Quite a few of the trails are gravel covered. And do remember, you must always wear a helmet or you cannot participate!

A few extra rules apply:

1.  A handle bar mirrors and a bell  is recommended.

2. Always pass on the left of other riders and call out “Passing on the left”!

3. Maps of the ride are usually provided.

4. Part of your standard equipment should be a pump.

5. Always be prepared for a flat by including a spare tube, a new patch kit & tire irons as part of your tool kit.

6. Always bring water.

The purpose of the Trail Riders is to provide an alternative to road cycling and by it’s nature providing a safer cycling environment and at the same time gaining and maintaining fitness. And that brings us to our Motto!  Trail Riders do not ride on roads, unless it is the only way to get to a trail or connect from one trail to the next.

After a ride we often end up at Tim Horton’s or a Tavern according to preference.

P.S. After reading the “Trail Riders” Schedule, you may have noticed a certain emphasis on the Hamilton to Cambridge Rail Trail. The schedule actually contains an “End to End” component of the total Rail Trail in small portions. To be precise, it represents two “End To End” Rides for a total distance of 154 km since we will always double back on each of the 7 sections. If you are wondering why?  It’s got everything to do with logistics.  I do hope you will participate in this adventure.
